“Angela Brower’s Super Charlotte Debut . . . Angela Brower looks and sounds wonderful as Charlotte. We already knew of her blossoming lyric mezzo with the luminous tone, and that she is an offshoot of the local opera studio with nice career upswing. We were surprised then by the second part, which lent power to Brower’s voice. It was a real pleasure to be able to experience this beautiful, slender woman with this quality of voice, especially since Ms. Brower is also a great actress.

At her side was Rolando Villazon as Werther. He stood with Brower together already in Hoffmann at the Munich stage, and later he took her to his TV show with young artists, where he emphasized how happy he was joining the young American on the stage. So it may have been helpful for Brower, just to have him with her and at her side for her major debut . . . The long death scene was both protagonists to a moving experience . . .

Long-lasting, intense applause.” – Online Merker

{Angela Browers Super-Charlotten-Debut . . .

Lang anhaltender, heftiger Applaus!}

“Angela Brower gave her best in the last two acts, and her cry of “pity” is poignant and fully manifested in the due torment, but not guilty of the death of her friend that she loved so much. She is a mezzo soprano in name but in fact posesses exquisite technique and beautiful interpretation, which is good to bring out the character’s personality. Her Charlotte is settled and down-to-earth, a generous and sensitive woman, she loves Werther, but how you love a friend.” – L’ape musicale

{Anche Angela Brower ha dato il suo meglio negli ultimi due atti e la sua invocazione: “pitié” è struggente e manifesta appieno il tormento per essere causa, ma non colpevole, della morte dell’amico che tanto amava. Mezzosoprano di nome ma di fatto soprano di pregevole tecnica e bella interpretazione, è brava a far risaltare il carattere del personaggio. La sua Charlotte è posata e con i piedi per terra, una donna generosa e sensibile, vuol bene a Werther, ma come lo si vuole a un amico.}
