Janáček’s ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’ – Munich Opera Festival 2022

Angela Brower returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper to star as The Fox in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen on July 11 and 16, part of the Munich Opera Festival. Earlier this year, Ms. Brower starred in Barrie Kosky’s new production at the Bayerische Staatsoper, receiving rave reviews for her “remarkable” (Wanderer) portrayal as The Fox.

Angela will join forces once again with conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, with whom she also performed the opera in Dortmund and Paris last November. The fantastic cast will include Wolfgang Koch, Lindsay Ammann, Jonas Hacker, Martin Snell, Milan Silyanov, and Caspar Singh, among others.

“The couple of the two foxes, the fox and the cunning little vixen, is also one of the strongest we have seen in the work: Angela Brower’s fox is remarkable. The singer whose quality we know is almost a revelation here. The couple formed with Tsallagova is incredibly fresh, never overplayed, with a moving naturalness, vocally impeccable, full of color, so accurate that the image left by the moments when they appear together is emotionally powerful. unexpected. The two singers are totally moving.”

“Angela Brower, in more than a welcome return to her former theatre, brought her fulsome voice, her gorgeous tonal colour and her acting talent to the part of the Fox. The scenes between the Vixen and the Fox were touching, enthralling, charming and sexy all at once.”
