‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ at Opéra national de Paris

Angela Brower closes out the year with her return to the Opéra national de Paris as La muse/Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. Previously heralded by the British Theatre Guide for bringing a “bright” and “clear definition to the role of Nicklausse and the poet’s Muse,” Ms. Brower starred in this fantastical opera at Staatsoper Hamburg, which was released by EuroArts on DVD. Brower stars in Robert Carsen’s immaculate production this turn, sharing the stage with a starry cast of singers, including Benjamin Bernheim in the title role, Pretty Yende at Olympia, Antoinette Dennefeld as Giulietta, Rachel Willis-Sorensen as Antonia, Christian Van Horn as Lindorf, Coppélius, Dapertutto, & Miracle, and Leonardo Cortellazzi as Andrés, Cochenille, Pitichinaccio, & Frantz. Performances will take place on November 30, & December 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 & 27. Eun Sun Kim conducts.
