Norma at Staatsoper Berlin

Next month, for four performances on May 1, 6, 10 and 13, Angela Brower stars as Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma. This opera is considered the epitome of bel canto, but it offers a great deal more than just “beautiful singing”. In his production, Vasily Barkhatov underscores Norma’s sense of being torn between her public role and her personal feelings against the backdrop of a political revolution.

Joining her on the stage of the Staatsoper Berlin will be Sonya Yoncheva as Norma, Freddie De Tommaso as Pollione and Erwin Schrott as Oroveso, with Giuseppe Mentuccia in the orchestra pit.
